WASHINGTON — Arleen Doris Pisano, 89, of Washington, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at UnityPoint Health – Proctor in Peoria.
Born July 21, 1928 in Bendon, Michigan to Fred and Jessie (McCuaig) Beaton, she married Joseph Pisano on July 5, 1952 in Traverse City, Michigan. He died September 27, 2007 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother and sister-in-law, Eldon and Cleora Beaton.

Surviving are three sons, Tom (Jackie) Pisano of Germantown Hills, Chris (Brenda) Pisano of East Peoria, and Michael (Cheryl) Pisano of Belleview, Florida; one daughter, Kathy Pisano of Washington; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of two great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Christ Bible Church in Creve Coeur.

A homemaker, Arleen enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, going to church, watching Alaska shows on television, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed her time in Michigan and traveling with Eldon and Cleora.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. The Rev. Tom Pisano, her son, will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Inland Township Cemetery in Interlochen, Michigan at a later date.

Columbus “Chris” Disabato

October 12, 1923 ~ April 21, 2018 (age 94)

Columbus ‘Chris’ Disabato, 94, a former longtime resident of Blue Island, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in McHenry. He was born on October 12, 1923 in Altoona, PA to Pasquale and Lucia (nee Labriola).

Chris grew up curious and industrious on the family farm. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island. In 1945, he married Sylvia Rubino and together they raised their daughter, Christine and son, Alan. Chris served in the US Army from 1945 to 1946 then worked as a lieutenant for 30 years for the Investigations Department of the Secretary of State and was instrumental in winning the extended mandatory retirement age issue.

He was particularly known for his 38 years of involvement in the City of Blue Island where he served as the interim mayor, treasurer and alderman making him the longest serving elected official in the history of Blue Island. He was also instrumental in Main Street Blue Island which helped save Blue Island from destructive changes proposed by the Illinois Department of transportation and served countless years as an ambassador and fund raiser. In addition, he was very active as a 4th Degree Knight through the Blue Island council of the Knights of Columbus that served the St.
Donatus Church.

Chris’ true love was family which he served unconditionally. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; his daughter, Christine (Larry) Cannon and son, Alan; grandchildren, Shawn, Chad (Torrie) Zambon, Kelly (Nathan) Turney, Shane
(Mat) Lincoln, Ryan, Quint, Ross, Mark (Amy) Cannon and Susan (Rob) Marks; and his great-grandchildren, Taylor, Josh, Kendall, Charlie, Isabelle, Ethan, Aliya, Evan, Tait, Sydney and Logan. He is further survived by his siblings, Michael (Pat), Jane (Ray) Olley, Louise Cahill and Rudy (Evie); and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dan, Sandy and Connie; and sisters, Millie, Virginia and Helen.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 beginning with visitation at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass Celebration at 11:30 AM at St. George Catholic Church, 6707 175th St. Tinley Park, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chris’ name to the American Heart Association.

1937 – 2018


Sarah A. Burgess (nee Coleman), 80 of Smithton, Illinois, born October 13, 1937 in East St. Louis, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018.


Sarah was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society and a Member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She was extremely charitable to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and she volunteered with several organizations through the church. She was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.


Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Margaret (nee Laughlin) Coleman, husband, Jim H. Burgess Sr.; brother, Raymond Coleman; sisters, Mary Keuenhoff; Margaret Burgess; Joan Madden; and Patricial Jane Coleman.


Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Jim Henry Burgess Jr. (Jean) of St. Jacob, IL, and Richard Thomas Burgess Sr. (Julia) of Red Bud, IL; daughters, Susan Diane Russell (John) of Belleville, IL, and Cynthia Ann Schuhardt of Smithton, IL; grandchildren, Susan Brooke (Dr. Jason Barnett), Melissa Ann Burgess Martin (Vernon), Johnny Lee Russell (Jessica), Ryan Russell (Sarah), James Tyler Schuhardt, Dillon Maxwell Schuhardt, James Kyle Burgess (Heather), Richard Thomas Burgess Jr., and Sydney Boyd Burgess; great-grandchildren, Luke Barnett, Cali Kichline, Samuel Barnett, Morgan Barnett, John Austin Russell, Kaylee Isabella Russell, Autumn Russell, Scarlet Russell, Ayden Nicole Burgess, Jett Arianna Burgess, Wesley Miedich, Madison Martin, Gabe Martin, and Owen Martin; sisters, Gertrude Werner and Roseanne Weilmuenster; and special friend, Jim Schuhardt.

Passing of LeAnn Trueblood

LeAnn Trueblood 24 year old daughter of President Terry Trueblood passed away on 08-28-17 surrounded by her family. Her service will be Saturday September 2nd in Effingham, IL. 10 am at Johnson’s funeral home in Effingham. Visitation will be Friday September 1st from 4pm to 7pm at Johnson’s. FOP State Chaplain Dan Lovin will be conducting the service.

Albert C. “Skip” Pace, 87, of Bay Springs, MS, formerly of Girard & Litchfield, passed away Mon., Aug. 21, 2017. He was born on Oct. 30, 1929 on a farm in the Pine Springs Community of Lauderdale County, MS, the son of Barney D. & Margaret Thresia (Clay) Pace. He graduated from high school in Vidor, TX.

Albert married Mary Ann Sevier on July 16, 1954 in the Chapel at Cabiness Field, TX. She preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2011. They were married for 57 years.

Mr. Pace was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a First Class Petty Officer in July 1967. He then went on to work as a Private Investigator in San Diego for 5 years and after that worked as an Investigator with the Illinois Secretary of State Police in August 1972. He retired from there as a Sergeant in December 1991. In May 1992 he once again returned to the department to organize and oversee a special anti auto theft unit where he remained until December 1999.

He enjoyed gardening, photography, wood working, had a passion for genealogy, traveling in his motor home and taking care of his pets.

Graveside funeral services will be held Sat., Aug. 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Passing of Franklin F. Walker, (Retired District 2)

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Franklin F. Walker, (Retired District 2)

Franklin F. Walker 1941—2017

Franklin F. Walker, 76, of Freeport, IL, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Manor Court in Freeport. He was born June 4, 1941; the son of the late Floyd and Marian (Robbe) Walker. He graduated from Freeport High School and Highland Community College with an Associate of Arts degree. He then went on to Western Illinois University where he received his Bachelor’s degree.

Franklin married Geraldine LaBudde on May 11, 1974; she passed away November 17, 2014. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 – 1970, in the American Forces Radio & Television Service. He was stationed in Thailand from 1968 – 1969. He had been a Secretary of State Policeman for 20 years, retiring in 1991.

Franklin was a life member of the VFW, AMVETS, Masonic Lodge 170, and Scottish Rite Valley of Freeport High 12. His memberships also include Trinity UMC the Elks Lodge, Tabala Shrine Temple, Illinois Community College Trustee Association, Association of Community College Trustees and the Fraternal Order of Police. He also served on the board of the Freeport Housing Authority and on the Board of Trustees of Highland Community College from 1978 – 2004.

Franklin enjoyed playing golf and traveling, especially with his wife and his Air Force pals. He is survived by his niece, Kimberly (Shane) Gipe of Pearl City, IL; nephew, Patrick (Angie) LaBudde; great-nieces and nephews, Austin (Bailey), Wyatt, Zoie, Jason and Paige; aunt, Bethel Walker; brother-in-law, Duane (Viola) LaBudde; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Geraldine.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 1st, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, with a Masonic Service and Military Rites. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Lodge 95 Fundraiser underway

 Our fundraiser is ongoing and being conducted by Safety Systems on behalf of the Lodge. We had great references for this company from Troopers Lodge, Lake County Lodge, Cook County Lodge as well as the State Lodge. Solicitations will be ongoing to (businesses only) , starting in northern Illinois and moving south later. We will be producing a magazine for them to advertise in, and will be asking for articles and ideas as this progresses. We hope this extra funding will help us remain relevant in Springfield and elsewhere; as we attempt to provide services to our membership in a high quality fashion.
