Gerald Schneider, age 47, of Sherman, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Gerald was born on December 16, 1977 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Gerald and Rebecca (Kelly) Schneider.
He married Sally “Sarah” Seitz on October 13, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman.
Mourning his passing are his loving wife, Sally; daughter, Kaylie; son, Beau; two sisters, Jessica (Cory) Formea and Dixie (Jake) Hill; his parents, Gerald and Rebecca Schneider; several nieces and nephews.
Gerald is preceded in death by a brother, Phil; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Gerald was cherished by his family and friends for his unwavering dedication, sense of humor, and love for his family.
He dedicated his career to serving and protecting his community as a Sergeant for the Illinois Secretary State Police Capitol Division and the Sherman Police Department. His commitment to public service earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community members alike.
Gerald enjoyed horseback riding and going to the beach. He dearly loved spending time with his family.
Visitation for Gerald will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM also at the church. Burial will be held at Fancy Creek Cemetery near Sherman, Illinois immediately after the services.
