Obituary for Maureen Ann Long

Maureen “Moe” Ann Long, 70 (but forever 38), passed on October 31, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of Lean and Rita Ryan.

Moe was born August 10, 1953, in Springfield. She attended Christ the King Grade School, Sacred Heart Academy and Lincoln Land Community College. She married Stephen J. Long, September 29, 1974. Together they moved to Chandlerville to start a family and later opened Steve and Moe’s Parkview Tavern. Her love for the Chicago Cubs, Flamingos and Friends was shared with all who entered. As our beloved Moe Moe, she helped raise 4 critters and instilled in them her love for life and family. If you knew her, you loved her and she loved and never said a bad word about anyone.

She is preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Steve. Her legacy is her family, including her children, Carrie (Shane) Richardson, Springfield, Kelly Long, Springfield, Meaghan (Donald) Neice, Jacksonville and Ryan Long, mostly on the road with storm cleanup. Critters, a/k/a as her grandchildren, Keenan and Kennedy Richrdson and Colby and Chase Neice; Her Brother, Mike Ryan, Chandlerville and sisters Martha Ryan, Springfield and Theresa Flinn, Havana; Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many dear lifelong friends.

Her favorite time was time spent on the deck with her tribe and precious bitch Twixie Poo Poo. She loved and embraced life to the fullest. She was mostly known for her famous chocolate pies. She will be missed deeply especially at Halloween and Christmas dressing up silly and enjoying every moment of it like a child would.

The family welcomes smiles and stories as they gather to remember her Sunday, November 5, from 2-4 at Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville, IL. A celebration of life will be held on her 38th birthday, at Moo Moo’s, August 10, 2024. Memorials for Moe can be made to the Cass County Food Pantry or WILD Canine Rescue.
