Norm retired from his career with the Illinois Secretary of State Police in 2003 and was active with his hobbies of golf and bowling that gained him many lasting friendships. He had an especially strong love of dogs, rescuing several. He also loved Taco Bell, pool parties, oatmeal with butter, and the New York Yankees.

Norm is survived by his loving wife Karen, his sister Debbie, and was predeceased by his sister Angie and brothers Eddie and Leroy. Norm was also a proud father to his son Paul (Tanya) and his daughter Emily; stepdaughter Kathy (John), and his stepson Ken (Stacie). He was Papa Norm to his granddaughters Maile, Natalie, and Brynn, and grandson Gabe and was Grandpa Norm to granddaughters Bridget (Andy), Madelyn, Sara, Jennifer, Addison, and grandsons Devan, Liam, and Eric.
