Rosemary Cody Peterson, 68, of Roodhouse, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 10, 2026. She was the daughter of Clifford and Hazel (Merrill) Cody. She married Richard Peterson, the love of her life, on September 3, 1977, and he survives.
She is also survived by her children, Jacob (Maggie) Peterson, Curt (Carmen) Peterson, Leo (Andrea) Peterson; her grandchildren, McKynlee, Carley, Madelyn, Mia, Ben, Knox, and Sadie; her siblings, Brenda (Mike) Dahman of Winchester, Colleen (Jerry) Lovekamp of Winchester, Tom (Tracy) Cody of Jacksonville, Paul (Wanda) Cody of Winchester, Sharon (David) Gant of Carrollton, Patricia (Gary) Suttles of Winchester, and Christine (Mike) Brown of Richmond, Texas; her In-Laws Tom (Julie) Peterson and Cindy (Paul) Fry, both of Manchester; along with several nieces and nephews. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Beverley Ann and Joe Cody; and a nephew Drew Cody.
She was a graduate of Winchester High School, class of 1976. After schooling Rosemary worked several jobs at Reynolds, Mobile for over 25 years, and eventually retired from Diversified Crop Insurance. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as mushroom hunting, gardening, puzzles, watching hummingbirds, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been administered and there will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 12 p.m. (noon) until 4 p.m. at the Winchester EMS Building located at 734 Illinois Route 106 in Winchester, IL 62694. Memorials may be left to Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri (Give – Siteman Cancer Center). The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
